On the eleventh day of Christmas Tfronky gave to me …

The DickiesThe Dickies. “O Holy Night” as you know is a favorite Christmas song of mine and an integral song for Christmas Eve. So is “Silent Night” due to lyrics such as “Holy infant so tender and mild.” This Christmas carol was composed all the way back in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr.

Therefore, it would make sense that tonight’s Musings since it is Christmas Eve and very close to midnight in my neck of the woods that I would provide a soothing, reverent version of the song. WRONG. Just like last year you get The Dickies with their take on the song from 1978. It floors me this punk rock band is still playing today, 37 years after they first became a band and more important, with two of the original band members still around to this day in Leonard Graves Phillips on vocals and Stan Lee on the guitar. I can’t even remember how many times I have seen The Dickies play over the years and every time they have delivered a killer, frenetic show.

Here are The Dickies with “Silent Night”. I’m sure Gruber and Mohr would (not) approve.

Cheers! Get to bed, Santa is almost here!
